COMMUNIQUÉ

2010/1 – February

The Communication of the South African Region

Western Cape – Eastern Cape - Gauteng

Dear Community

At the beginning of 2010 where do we find ourselves?

As the National Exco who met in January we find ourselves labouring to put into action the desires of our Community. The World Exco sent out its letter to us all in Projects 144 and it is our desire to use this letter as the next step in our journey here in South Africa.

To start we ask where have we come from? For now, we go back to the months preceding the GA Fatima 2008, where we were asked to reflect and compile our Graced History and to pray for the GA and the delegates we were sending. Fatima for the delegates was a most graced experience and out of the work done there, our Community moved into working with the Themes from Fatima. This was done with great generosity of spirit and of course some severe mutterings as well. Just the things that make up a community of such diverse people as we are!

Fatima called us to live more deeply and act move effectively as an apostolic body and to this end we prepared with the Themes for our own Assembly at La Verna. And that is where we almost froze our toes off. We shivered and shook and worked from morning till night and were warmed by a wonderful wood fire in the dining room. One feels specifically put there by the Holy Spirit for us – God’s beloved children.

The resolutions we came to at La Verna indicate that we as a Community desire what our World Community desires – to grow in our apostolate. And so here we are at the beginning of 2010 with the desire to do just that. Right on target, the World Community, guided by the Spirit without a doubt, sends us Projects 144 to begin the process of conceiving and giving birth to our own way of being as an apostolic body.

Within the next few weeks the Exco will communicate their thoughts and suggestions of the way forward for this year. So we ask you to consider that old adage; a family that prays together stays together.

We ask our whole community of the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape and Gauteng to begin this year by praying together. First using Projects 144 and then Journeying towards Apostolate.

Exco has worked Projects 144 into a one day retreat format which will be sent out with the next Communiqué. Groups may use this or you may want to find a way of using it, particular to yourselves. Whichever way you decide, please consider the questions that the Exco offers as they will feed into the next programme.

Matters to communicate

Bruce Verity from Gauteng has joined the Exco team and is currently handing the national financial matters. The Exco welcome him and are very happy to be able to draw on his expertise.

A REMINDER we are at the end of the financial year and thereof ask the treasurer’s of the regions to please let the their regional Exco approve their end of year Statements, and then forward to  National Exco and to please pay over the levies to the national Account. We are working on the structure of financial management for the National community and ask your prayers that this will be well done.

We thank all for their generosity, support and dedication to financial commitment to your Community.

The Exco has considered the resolutions taken at La Verna concerning group guides and leadership in CLC and intend offering training in leadership and group guides using as much of the expertise that Jane and Sabie have learned in the leadership course at Nairobi and Rome.

The Formation Team are busy developing the Resource/Starter pack that was requested at the Assembly and hope to release it soon for members to consider. It will be a work in progress as we feel that it will need to be updated where necessary.

We offer this prayer again, at the beginning of this year that we may all pray together for the Spirit’s guidance:

God our Lord we pray for the grace to become aware of your desires for us,

We pray that CLC may grow into an apostolic Community

and we ask that you help us, the CLCommunity,

to find our particular apostolic charism here in South Africa.
