CLCers in the Western Cape responded to the decision taken at the National Assembly, to have one National  fundraising effort in all the Regions. In the W. Cape we decided to have a Hi Tea.

All the delegates, who were at the Assembly, met and agreed that each group in the region would host a table for 10 people. The hosts provided the food for 10 people and all the crockery, cutlery and decoration for their table. CLC provided the tables, tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Tickets were sold for between R20 and R50 and there were many generous donations. We collected 20 prizes for a raffle at R2.00 a ticket which were sold at the Hi Tea.

One of the students at Kolbe entertained us with a lovely song!  And there were homemade jams and plants for sale.

The venue was Kolbe House, the Catholic UCT students  residence in Rondebosch….many thanks to Graham and the staff for making us so welcome!

The lesson we all learnt is this: When we put aside our personal doubts and work as a community we can make things happen without any one person taking all the strain. We achieved our goal and we had fun doing it!

You can read the letter which was sent to all CLCers in the region.

We did it…….. thanks to you!!!!

The total takings at the Hi Tea on Sunday are R5,800.00 !

Surely we will all agree that the Hi Tea on Sunday was a great success! We had fun and our efforts were rewarded by the money we made.

Not everyone was so keen on the idea of a “tea party” but we put aside our doubts and did our best.  It was wonderful to see so many happy friends and families together!  . It could never have been done without the commitment of each one of you to make the event the success it was. We missed those of you who were not able to be there….. thank you for your prayers We can be encouraged by the fact that when we all work together we can make things happen for the good of CLC!  We are definitely well on the way to becoming the Apostolic Community we desire!

Thank you, thank you, thank you …………when are we going for Fish and Chips at Kalkies!

With grateful hearts from the Exco.
